I love my work because it makes a difference.

What else do you need to know about me?

As an award-winning writer, editor, and publications director for Harvard University, MIT, and Scholastic, I know the tasks and tools for taking assignments from the blank page to compelling polish. As a published author, I have a keen eye for the craft of writing. With decades of experience in the fields of education, research, business, medicine, philanthropy, and more, I am a quick study and know how to chart a path to meet professional goals.

Twenty years ago, after publishing countless articles about the lifelong impact of insightful instruction, I was inspired to add “writing coach” to my list of services. Becoming a high school journalism teacher and then a professor of writing, I expanded the skills I had already honed through my work with professional writers and content experts. I love working one-on-one, helping students mine their unique strengths while also learning to meet their particular challenges. I use all the tools at my disposal to individualize instruction so my students gain the tools they need to fully develop their potential as writers.

With a Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in English Literature, and a Master’s Degree in writing, my stories have been published in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, Boulevard, Black Warrior Review, Post Road, and Green Mountains Review, and cited as one of 100 distinguished stories in The Best American Short StoriesMy collection of short stories was a semi-finalist for the Iowa Short Fiction Award and The Mary McCarthy Short Fiction Prize. My non-fiction writing has been published in The Boston Globe, The Harvard Gazette, Boston Business Forward magazine, The Harvard Medical School magazine, and Ed. Magazine, Hope magazine, The Boston Phoenix, and many other publications.

In addition to my time as a writing coach and writer, I cherish reading, traveling off the beaten path, all things “foodie,” swimming, and being a mom.
